Chronology

1885 - Manufactured by Robert Stephenson and Company Limited, at their Atlas Works, Springburn, Glasgow, Scotland and received makers No 2593

9/08/1886 - Locomotive F233 entered Service at Napier as F50

1890 - Renumbered into the National sequence as F233

End 1921 - Retired from service at Napier

08/1922 - F233 was re-boilered at Petone and commenced work at Wellington. Original boiler inspected and sold (for ₤120, $240) to Ogilvie & Co of Gladstone who still had it in use in 1930 on their log hauler

13/05/1936 - F233 sold to Auckland Farmers Freezing Co who used it at their Southdown plant till 1964, when it was purchased by the Railway Enthusiasts Society

22/08/1964 - F233 Moved to the RES site in Alfred St Onehunga

Dec. 1984 - F233 moved to Glenbrook Vintage Railway.
