|Reporting that the engine now  being worked by Mr Calvin was off the line twice yesterday, the first time  within the reclaimed ground – which did not cause any interference with the  regular traffic – and the second time near the main line at Caversham, causing  an obstruction to the 4.45pm down train, which was delayed 30 minutes in  starting, and owing to the Caversham Siding being filled with earth wagons,  the passenger train could not be shunted and had to be pushed back to Dunedin  by the engine, which is very unsafe. In both cases the engine left the rails  to the want of proper switches, instead of which, rails are used to “swing”  between the two roads.

Caversham - - - 7/7/1875 Reporting that the engine now being worked by Mr Calvin was off the line twice yesterday, the first time within the reclaimed ground – which did not cause any interference with the regular traffic – and the second time near the main line at Caversham, causing an obstruction to the 4.45pm down train, which was delayed 30 minutes in starting, and owing to the Caversham Siding being filled with earth wagons, the passenger train could not be shunted and had to be pushed back to Dunedin by the engine, which is very unsafe. In both cases the engine left the rails to the want of proper switches, instead of which, rails are used to “swing” between the two roads. Dunedin – Clutha Railway - OP 7, 16434 OPR Otago S
