INTRODUCTION

This page gets you a step closer to finding lists of Industrial Tramways for a particular area. The large regions the country has been split up into are still too large to list individual tramways but help in defining smaller areas where tramways existed. These smaller areas have been given geographical names and clicking on the area or name will take you to a page listing all known tramways with links to pages for each individual one. This page also differentiates the types of tramways that existed, so some areas may provide links to a Bush Tramway page as well as a Mine, Factory, or Construction Tramway page.

There will of course be data for tramways in this are that has not been discovered yet. If you know of any, please add comments to either the Discussion or Info Submission tabs accessible at the top of this page. You do need to be registered as a user to be able to add comments or information and you can do that easily by clicking HERE

To help visualise the Northland region relative to the stations on the North Auckland Line, it encompasses the whole area north of Kaipara Flat including the northern half of the Kaipara harbour.

About this image

The initial source of Tramway data is of course the New Zealand Railway and Tramway Atlas, the most comprehensive single source of data, however as local history books are sourced, significant additional data will be able to be accessed. Use the Discussion and Info Submission pages (accessible from a tab at the top of this page) if you are able to provide additional data. You do need to be registered user to be able to add data.
