|The panelled building will only  afford a place of shelter for passengers at the Makarewa – and probably some  of the goods while waiting for the drays. No doubt traffic can be done in  this way, but under serious disadvantage – that I think will be required at  Makarewa is a shed on the west side next to the line, closed at the back and  ends. It would certainly be a great advantage to have such a shed erected at  once, as there will doubtless be complaints of goods landing without shelter.  In the event of the shed being erected, the panelled house will serve as a  booking office and lockfast place.

Makarewa McLean's Crossing - - 3/9/1864 The panelled building will only afford a place of shelter for passengers at the Makarewa – and probably some of the goods while waiting for the drays. No doubt traffic can be done in this way, but under serious disadvantage – that I think will be required at Makarewa is a shed on the west side next to the line, closed at the back and ends. It would certainly be a great advantage to have such a shed erected at once, as there will doubtless be complaints of goods landing without shelter.
