It appears to have had a a tramway totalling nearly 2km in length, a main line of about 1.5km running roughly north - south, and a shorter branch line running eastward. Operations seem to have ceased by 1922. | |||

Introduction
Kaihoka encompasses the area north of the Whanganui Inlet on the seaward side of Golden Bay, and accessed by road from Puponga. As was typical of the land around the inlet there which had large areas of swamp and many of these became worthwhile areas to harvest flax. As Kaihoka was a separate area to the north and had a substantial flax mill called the Lunar Flaxmill.
