The story of NZR early Passenger Carriages has been told in infinite detail by John Agnew in a series of articles published in [[Railfan]] spanning 11 years. With the first article appearing in December 2008, which looked at early car-vans, and ending with an article on Troop movements and Royal visits in December 2020. Sadly Railfan ceased publication then and what I presume were the last 2 articles in the Royal Visit series never got published. Given there are no articles covering the cars from about 1900 onwards, suggests this overall series could have continued for some time yet.

The story of NZR early Passenger Carriages has been told in infinite detail by John Agnew in a series of articles published in NZ Railfan spanning 11 years. With the first article appearing in December 2008, which looked at early car-vans, and ending with an article on Troop movements and Royal visits in December 2020. Sadly Railfan ceased publication in 2020, and what I presume were the last 2 articles in the Royal Visit series never got published. Given there are no articles covering the cars from about 1900 onwards, suggests this overall series could have continued for some years yet.

As a ready reference, a list of all the articles in order of publication is given in the table below with links to the magazine issue. It is hoped to eventually have an extended summary of each article and as each of those gets prepared, a hyperlink will be provided to the Article page.
